The river “Minho” forms a sandbank which can produce quality waves. A clean, calm beach, with a pleasant landscape. Occasional rips near the mouth of the river.

The setting is fabulous it sits at the mouth of the Minho river, Portugal’s natural border with Spain. Caminha is beautiful for both its scenery and long stretch of sand. The Spanish mountain “Santa Tecla” creates a stunning backdrop, and a shady pocket of pine forest provides shelter from an offshore breeze.

This beach usually works with a right wave that forms a point, it is usually easy and great for learning. Along the beach there are several beach breaks good for more advanced surfers.

Consistent, classy beachbreak with sandbars sculpted by “Cabanas” river. Right into the rivermouth and a peak on the main beach.

The presence of “Lima” river, mountain “Santa Luzia” and the ocean, rendered the city landscaped skills of excellence that delight the senses, provide a psychological climate of decompression and are conducive to a healthy and pleasant leisure time. Overall the modern cultural spaces (theatres, cinemas, libraries, museums) provides conditions for cultural enrichment to residents and visitors, while the presence of the estuary and the sea offer special conditions to welcome sailing boats and for the practice of all kind of watersports, including surfing. Surfing started in Viana since 1987 at the Cabedelo, Rodanho, Afife, Âncora and Moledo beaches.
