TRADITION & HISTORY: In 1963 Jesús Fiochi of Santander was the first spanish surfer when he rode a wave in Santander beach and then in Somo beach. It is an area rich in surfing history with a tradition of producing world class surfers.

FIRST SURFING RESERVE OF SPAIN: In 2012, the Ribamontán al Mar coastline was officially declared a Surfing Reserve, this recognising the exceptional nature of the surf breaks in the area and their unique value as a natural, sporting, socio-economic and cultural resource.

RIBAMONTAN AL MAR AREA: Cantabrian Municipality situated in the southern part of the bay of Santander. Somo (the main town) is the capital of surfing in Cantabrian Coast.
